About: As part of The Portage Learning & Literacy Centre's newcomer settlement services they offer formal English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and coordinate volunteers to offer informal language training (one-to-one, small group sessions or Conversation Circles) for anyone wanting to improve their English and make new friends.

About:  Red River College offers full time and part time English language courses.  If you would like to develop your English skills to work toward your goals for settlement, employment, further studies, or daily life, these programs are for you! 

Full time courses

- Each program is five months long

- 25 hours of instruction each week

- Class times are Monday to Friday (start and end times will vary)

​Part time courses

- Each program is five months long

- Class times are 9am – 12pm (morning), 12pm – 3pm (afternoon), and 6:15pm – 9:15pm (evening)

- Morning and afternoon classes are Monday to Friday

- Evening classes are either four times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) or three times a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)

Fees

- There are no tuition fees for Permanent Residents and Refugees who are eligible to attend LTC programs. Programs for Permanent Residents and Refugees are funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

- There is a one-time fee of $35 for the mandatory student identification card.
